Not Paying Attention Has Cost Us Women More Than We Can Afford!
Historically, I think it's safe to say, that most women have never Godzilla taught to pay attention to financial matters, to read the fine print in documents, to know when and where they need to ask for help in banking or legal matters. I have lived this, and that lack of "financial literacy" has cost me much. My original family neither role modeled a healthy system to follow nor left me with the emotional need to take care of myself financially in the adult world.
For two decades I have been speaking about the full spectrum of the Limited Collectors Edition "attention" and have discovered the power and vital role attention plays in everyone's life.
First of all, we need attention, no matter Elvis old, poor, or how educated we are. Abundant research has clearly showed that it is our primary need. Knowing this, simply, can shift our reality.
Secondly, our attention is the most powerful tool we have to become more responsible and more responsive, to change the quality of our lives, to further our goals and create our dreams.
Third, as women, particularly, we need to understand contracts, regulations, legal, financial and employment details. When we have questions or don't honestly understand Hopalong Cassidy written materials which are presented to us, we need to stop to give ourselves permission to ask for attention, to look for mentors and advocates.
We can no longer sign our names without a full understanding of exactly what we are signing. We can no longer miss deadlines, misfile applications, fail to read the small print, as this kind of behavior invariably incurs additional expenses, jeopardizes our financial security.and creates untold heaps of personal stress.
Recently in my own life, I have had to go through a lengthy legal process. Many times I didn't pay enough attention to ask the right questions, to go to the appropriate experts, to understand legalize or to stop or intervene in other peoples' needs to rush through our meetings. I have met too many other women who have had similar experiences. Their tales often are tragic. Their financial losses have been staggering, their lives have been emotionally brutalized and the quality of their living has been diminished. . I am convinced personally that all women have to create a team for themselves, when going through divorce proceedings to insure fair and satisfactory results.
We can protect and assure our emotional and financial safety, only when we take the time to slow down, feel our feelings and pay attention to the proverbial bottom line everywhere, all the time; we have to admit that we know what we don't know and enroll friends, family and others to give the support we need to flourish.
