Playing Suited Connectors Effectively in Texas Hold'em

Suited connectors Looking for real singles? Meet someone tonight! a family of starting hands in Texas Hold'em that usually fall into the speculative or situational class. Although high ranking suited connectors are some of the most powerful hands in the game, the middle ranking suited connectors (the ones I will be addressing here) are not as powerful and must be played carefully in order to see a profit. When should you play suited connectors?

Suited connectors are capable of winning big pots. If you make a flush or a straight, usually it will be good enough to take down the pot and a lot of suckers with it. The hands are deceptive in nature, so they are powerful in that respect. Suited connectors play best in the following situations:

-When there are lots of players in the pot
-When the game is loose and passive
-When you are in the blinds with no raises
-When you are trying to deceive a good player
-When you are trying to confuse your opponents
-With that in mind, suited connectors are not a good idea in these situations:
-When you are in early position
-When the game is tight and aggressive
-When the pot most likely will be short or heads up
-When the game has crazy pre flop action
-When there has been a raise pre flop

As you can see, these hands are best used in situations where you can see the flop cheaply and you can make a lot of money in the event you win the pot. Adapt your poker home equity loan in consequence. Because you will be drawing most of the time with these hands it is important that you are getting proper odds for your draws. A good Hold'em calculator can come real handy! If you enter the pot with only one or two opponents, it will almost always be improper in terms of pot odds.

Another consideration with suited connectors is that they are usually best to play from middle or late positions. In early position, they simply are not that profitable. You are susceptible to pre flop raises, a lack of competition and the overall outlook for this type of hand from early position is just poor. Use the knowledge you have of your opponents when in late position to make these hands profitable. If the game is passive, then suited connectors become an excellent asset. Since you will often be able to enter the pot cheaply, you will frequently be able to look at flops to see if you have a good chance of making the draw. The most important thing to remember about the suited connecters is that they are situational hands.

They are not to be played every time you get them simply because you have them. You need to analyze each situation and make sure they fit the criteria. If you do this, you can make suited connectors profitable hands and deceive your opponents. Regularly calling with them against few opponents or when there are pre flop raises is an excellent strategy if your goal is to go broke.
